Welcome to the Frog Pond Elementary School

Our Mission

In order to prepare our children to be productive and responsible citizens, the Mission of the Little Egg Harbor Township School District is to create and maintain a collaborative learning environment which fosters individual abilities and encourages all children to achieve their highest potential with the expectation that all students will meet the grade level benchmarks set forth in the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards (NJCCCS).

Our Staff

The staff at the Frog Pond School is committed to providing each and every student with a challenging academic experience while ensuring a safe, secure learning environment. We currently have 77 certified professionals tending to the educational needs of our student population. In addition, there are 55 support staff members. Together we strive to maintain a safe, challenging environment in which all students are successful in their own ways.

Our Curriculum

The accomplishment of anything worthwhile, whether large or small, depends on the completion of goals, activities and milestones. An effective curriculum offers all these things. It provides administrators, teachers and students with structure and a sense of progression. Therefore, the importance and impact of curriculum cannot be overstated. Last year our district adopted the American Reading Company Program for Grades one through five with the goal that every student read at or above grade level. We are excited to be engaging all students in every grade level this year in the American Reading Company 100 Book Challenge.  The teachers at the Frog Pond School, utilizing the materials and resources provided by the American Reading Company, are setting a new standard for reading achievement in the classroom and in the home. Created by teachers, curriculum specialists, and literacy activists,  the American Reading Company‘s systematic approach to fostering independent reading has proven to be a successful initiative at the Frog Pond School.

Math instruction is also a major focus in our district. Although there is still room for traditional teaching methods, math instruction has generally developed into interactive experiences. Students understand math concepts as they use problem- solving techniques, and work with math manipulatives. Up through and including fifth grade, the series Math Trailblazers, published by Kendall Hunt, has been implemented. We have been very pleased with the results as measured by standardized tests. The program at the sixth grade level is McGraw-Hill's Mathematics and has also proven to be very successful.   This year several of our teachers at each grade level will be piloting a new Math program entitled Go Math, published by Houghton Mifflin. In addition to the regular instructional program, the following programs are available to students enrolled in our schools:

  • LEEP - Enrichment Program
  • Art
  • Music
  • Physical Education
  • Library
  • Computer Instruction

Just as important as all of these facts about our school, however, is the reality of what happens in our classrooms. One of the major goals in this district is to help students develop into adaptable, lifelong learners. The Little Egg Harbor School District has recognized that in order to be successful, communication is imperative. As a result, the district has moved towards creating Professional Learning Communities which enables our teachers to meet together and identify barriers to student learning. Through this collaboration, our teachers are better equipped to provide their students with high quality, differentiated instruction that meets the needs of all learners.

Technology plays a key role in assisting the instruction at the Frog Pond Elementary School . Our students are exposed to a variety of resources such as Successmaker and Waterford, as well as having access to interactive whiteboards. These tools assist the teachers in providing quality individualized instruction while engaging students in 21st Century learning skills.

Our special education program consists of a variety of components including self-contained classes, resource rooms and in-class support programs, all of which are designed to provide our students with the most comprehensive instruction in the least restrictive environment.  At the Frog Pond Elementary School, our teachers provide students with quality instructional experiences, which recognize, support, and maintain high expectations for all students.

Our district personnel strongly believes that parent/guardian participation in each child's school experience plays a vital role in the success each child experiences.  A healthy relationship between the home and the school supports a positive learning environment.  As such, parents/guardians are invited to take an active role in our Parent Teacher Association(PTA) and our Parents in Education (P.I.E.) Program.
