Dear Families,
Welcome to the Frog Pond Elementary School! I am honored to serve our staff, students and families as the Building Principal. Frog Pond Elementary is a school filled with dedicated and committed staff members who strive to assure the success of each child. We are determined to meet the academic, social and emotional needs of all the students we serve. We are committed to working with the parents and guardians of our students to ensure that the home and the school are connected.
Education is a life-long, ever changing process. As educators, it is our responsibility to assure we stay focused on the goals of our curriculum standards using the most current research based strategies and programs to support our goal of teaching to each child who is a member of our school community. As such, we use the 100 Book Challenge and strategies published by the American Reading Company. Every day, students are challenged to read thirty minutes here at school and thirty minutes at home. Research has shown that the more reading children are exposed to the better readers they become.
During the 2011-2012 school year, we will be piloting the Go Math series. Published by Houghton-Mifflin, Go Math provides hands-on experiences for children that support thinking and 21st Century learning skills.
You can refer to our district to our district handbook and calendar for important dates and information that you should be aware of this school year. Students are invited to enter the building at 7:40 a.m. Please do not drop students off prior to 7:40 a.m., as we do not have supervision prior to that time. We do have a Before and After School program running for 7:00 a.m. until the start of school and after school until 6:00 p.m. If interested, please contact the Main Office at 609-296-1719.
