Welcome to the George J. Mitchell Elementary School!
Our school community is made up of caring, dedicated professionals, students who have a desire to learn and supportive families. We are committed to providing our students with a comprehensive curriculum that addresses their academic, social, and emotional needs.
Our school emphasizes a positive behavior program that highlights seven positive character traits. Our Caring Schools Community Character Education Program includes lessons that focus on educating all students on ways to utilize these traits in their everyday life. Through our character education curriculum, teachers create and plan cross-grade level activities on an on-going basis where younger classes are paired with older classes. We also conduct school-wide events that build and encourage a sense of unity and community for all. Our School Safety Patrol Program includes our Sixth Grade students who are trained by our School Resource Officer to promote safety on our school buses and throughout our school.
Our teachers are committed to providing our students with the best education that include opportunities for discovery. Using the Common Core State Standards as a foundation, our dedicated staff meets two or more times a week as a grade level to discuss best teaching practices and strategies that address the specific needs of all their students. These Professional Learning Communities are committed to ensuring that all students are learning and that guided instruction is available to those students who may need additional support. Our staff strives to challenge our students, encouraging them to be successful and become life-long learners.
Communication between our staff and families is an essential component for student success. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your child’s teacher or contact me at (609) 296-7131.
Yours in Education,
Mrs. Deborah Giannuzzi
