Hi!  Welcome to our web site. We are Carly, Peter, Doug, Nick, Amanda, and Carolyn of the Little Egg Harbor Township School District Technology Camp of 2002. We created this website to share with others some of the fascinating things we have learned about the migratory birds that visit our area. Being able to travel the distances they do is amazing enough but add to their journeys the dangers, both natural and man-made, that they must overcome and one cannot help but appreciate these international travelers! Little Egg Harbor is located in southern Ocean County on the western side of the bay.   Even our town name has to do with birds.   Early settlers called us Little Egg because of the amount of bird eggs found here.  Check out the map below for an exact location.

Migration is the movement of animals from one region to another because of changes in temperature, weather, and/or availability of food.  It usually involves movement from one place to another and then back again.  There are four major migration paths in North America.  These highways for birds are the Atlantic Flyway, the Mississippi Flyway, the Central Flyway, and the Pacific Flyway.  These routes generally follow major rivers and waterways.
