During the
summer of 2000, 42 5th & 6th grade students from the Little Egg Harbor School District
participated in a summer enrichment program called "The Virtual Seaport
Project". The project was designed as a WebQuest that involved students in the
creation of a virtual tour of the newly opened Tuckerton Seaport. Students were divided
into six groups, each responsible for researching and understanding one aspect of the
Seaport's historical, cultural and environmental importance. Students gathered
information, talked to Seaport specialists, recorded images, movies, and sounds all of
which helped them create a virtual tour of the Seaport. All of the students involved in
the program worked very hard and they hope you will enjoy your online trip to the
Tuckerton Seaport. We also hope that some of you may be able to visit the Seaport so that
you can experience for yourself the sights and sounds of the Seaport.
