During the summer of 2001, 52 students from the Little Egg Harbor Intermediate School participated in an enrichment program called the "Virtual Community Tour". The program involved students entering grades 4, 5, and 6 in the fall. The program was an extension of a similar program that took place the previous summer entitled the "Virtual Seaport Project".Students were divided into seven groups. Four groups were responsible for researching and creating a "virtual tour" of local municipal, environmental, and historical locations. While the three remaining groups worked to create "math trails" associated with the Tuckerton Seaport.Students gathered information by talking to local historians, scientists, municipal employees, and Seaport docents. In addition they recorded images, sound, and movies using digital cameras. All of this information helped them create their "Virtual Community Tour. All of the students involved in the program worked very hard and are hoping you will enjoy their "Virtual Community Tour". They also hope that some of you may be able to visit and enjoy for yourself the sights and sounds of Little Egg Harbor. |
